LABC Building Awards East Anglia Region

The LABC South West Building Excellence Awards recognise and reward the best quality design construction and project management in the South West. The quality stems from good design and an efficient design team, and is translated into quality buildings by an effective construction team. Throughout this process Local Authority Building Control monitors the quality of design and construction. The finalists will be acknowledged as amongst the best projects in the South West.

Nominations can now be made by any member of the design and construction team, the building owner, or by the LABC Building Control Surveyors involved. Each entry must be approved by LABC and include an endorsement from the approving authority. If you have a project that you think is worthy of recognition, speak with your LABC surveyor and ask for their endorsement. There is no charge for entering. Nominations are now open – and can be made until the closing date of 31 March 2010.

The regional final is dedicated to showcasing the best the construction industry has to offer in the South West. The awards will attract a large audience to a prestigious ceremony at The Barcelo Torquay Imperial Hotel on 18 June 2010. It is a black tie dinner and is a great opportunity to celebrate the working relationship enjoyed by the design and construction team and to reflect on the success of being shortlisted as a finalist.

Local Authority Building Control cares about the quality of construction. LABC teams are involved with all sorts of schemes from small domestic extensions through to multi-million pound commercial buildings. They are there to guide and assist with compliance to the Building Regulations. They are also there to recognise and promote the achievements of the construction industry through the regional Building Excellence Awards.

 

The Building Excellence Awards are unique in that they represent all types of work from the small domestic to the large commercial. They celebrate the work of designers, engineers, contractors and craftsmen. They recognise sustainable projects that go just that little bit further than the rest. They recognise the best in partnership working. They are there for everyone that gets involved.

 

To get involved is simple. All you need to do is nominate your cherished scheme through the nomination pages. Upload pictures and text that describes the achievements of the build, and get the endorsement of your LABC surveyor. There are guides and templates to download to help you. Start planning today. There was a buzz at The Palace Hotel Torquay as this years winners were revealed amongst an excellent display of shortlisted nominations. The MC Graham Lee was helped by BBC Weathergirl Wendy Hurrell as awards were given to the best schemes in 13 categories, and the regional chair Andrew Carpenter presented his Chairman's Award to an individually outstanding scheme.
